I've spent decades behind a radio microphone, and if there's one thing that career taught me, it's this: people don't want to be talked at. They want to be talked to — like the whole, complicated, capable adults they are.
That's what Grown Folks Bizness is built on.
I started this show because I noticed a gap nobody was filling. Black seniors are online more than ever — the pandemic made sure of that — but the content built for us hasn't caught up. Too much of what's out there treats getting older like something that happens to you, quietly, off to the side. Or it flattens us into a stereotype. Or it just doesn't speak to what we're actually dealing with: health disparities that are real, not hypothetical. Wealth gaps that took a lifetime to understand and are still being worked around. Family and legacy questions that don't have easy answers. Joy that we've earned and shouldn't have to explain.
This show is grown folks, talking about grown folks' business. No filter, no fragility, no pretending we don't know what we're talking about.
